What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care. The profession specializes in the examination, diagnosis and treatment of biomechanical issues involving the neuromusculoskeletal system. What this means is that if you have concerns involving your joints, discs, ligaments, muscles, tendons or nerves-a chiropractor can help.

Treatment Styles

Treatments are always tailored to fit the needs of the patient. Your chief complaint, as well as your health history will guide how gentle or aggressive your care plan will be. Each case is different and depending on what I find, I may use one or more of the following modes of treatment to get you back to feeling like yourself:

  • Chiropractic Manipulation or chiropractic adjustments are the technical terms for the “cracking” that chiropractors are known for. The purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is to restore motion to a joint that is “stuck” or not moving correctly. These adjustments can be delivered to joints in your spine as well as most other joints in your body. Adjustments are quick and low force. They help to relax the surrounding tissue, decrease pain and alleviate stiffness.
  • IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) Is a technique that uses specially designed tools to detect and treat areas of fascial restrictions. By releasing these restrictions, you can decrease muscle tension and improve the range of motion of the involved joints and tissues.
  • Therapeutic Exercises are used to stimulate and strengthen muscles. When the right muscles are being activated your body can move in a biomechanically efficient manner. This can alleviate stress on the surrounding tissues.
